Easter DIY's
SPRING IS HERE!!!
Well Spring is in the air. And Spring is definitely here in Canada! Some parts that is, sorry Atlantic Canada! (coming soon). But in Ontario the snow has melted or in the process of. The sunshine makes me feel happy, the warmer weather is finally upon us! Yes, cause I thought it'd never happen!
Our first holiday for the season starts with EASTER!! Yippie lots of sweet treats! And all the beautiful flowers are out in some stores. So start decorating your home with these beautiful colors and get in the spirit of Spring!
In today's blog I found a few recipes I've been wanting to try, and a few EASTER DIY'S if anyone needs some idea's. (yes, I got just for you!) So sit back and enjoy.
Let's first start with a few drinks, I have a few milk shakes, cocktails, and a mocktail for those non drinkers and kids! Are you ready?! They may make you thirsty so go grab a drink and a snack and get inspired to try a few!
LET'S BEGIN
HOMEMADE COTTON CANDY FRAPPUCCINO
Ingredients:
2/3 cup of milk (any is fine. Low-fat is good if you're watching your weight)
2 good scoops of vanilla bean ice cream
2/3 cup of ice or 4-6 ice cubes
2 Tbsp of each vanilla and raspberry syrup
Blend in blender until smooth. Pour into tall glass. Top with whipped cream. And add your straw! Sit back and slurp away!! Yummmm...
*can also add candy sprinkles on top
How does that sound? Heavenly! I'm so going to try this recipe! The syrup can be bought in grocery stores or online. Starbucks also sells. Since this was inspired by Starbucks. I heard this taste just like their Cotton Candy Frappuccino.
Next is....
EASTER MILKSHAKE
*Can be made with different candies such as Whoppers, Robin Eggs, Cadbury Mini Eggs, Easter Creme eggs in all flavours. You choose what you love!
1 cup of milk
1 pint of ice cream
1 bar of your favourite chocolate, or 7-8 small pieces of easter chocolate
1 cup of malted candy of your choice*
marshmellow Peeps
sprinkles
Blend your milk, ice cream and chocolate bar in blender until smooth. Crush your malted candy and sprinkle on top. Put marshmellow Peep on top. Insert straw and enjoy!!
Kids will love this!!
*whipping cream can also be used before you place toppings.
My all-time favourite Spring milk-shake is from McDonald's! You guessed it !!!
THE SHAMROCK SHAKE
The homemade version which taste exactly like!!
Ingredients:
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 1/4 cups low fat milk
1/4 tsp of mint extract (not peppermint)
8 drops of green food coloring
BLEND TOGETHER IN BLENDER.
GARNISH WITH WHIP CREAM AND PUT A CHERRY ON TOP!
NOW FOR THE COCKTAIL'S & Mocktail
Good for a get together with family and friends
on Easter Night
Cotton Candy Cocktail
1 bottle of Marshmallow Vodka (or cotton candy vodka)
1 bottle of Perrier water
1 large bag of cotton candy
Fill glass with fluffy cotton candy the color is your choice. Pour
1 oz of marshmallow or cotton candy vodka into glass over cotton candy (this will begin to melt) and top with Perrier water and add ice.
*can also garnish rim with flavoured sugar be creative
Sounds great doesn't it ladies!!! (Debbie were so doing this at the trailer this summer!)
BLUE COTTONTAIL COCKTAIL
Ingedients per glass
1 1/2 oz of vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz blue caracao
*orange peel for garnish on rim
Shake ingredients well.
Strain into a chilled martini glass
Place orange peel around the rim
AND OUR MOCKTAIL
(non alcoholic drink)
Orange Sparkler Mocktail
Great for everyone! The kids will like drinking this sparkly drink and feeling like an adult!
Ingredients per glass
Fill a tall glass with ice add 3 oz of orange juice & 3 oz of club soda and stir.
*could also garnish with a mint leaf
Now Let's make some yummy EASTER popcorn. Cause you all could go for a sweet treat!!!
This stuff is super addictable!! Be prepared....lol!!!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED!
plain popcorn
Peeps marshmallow treats (use a few different ones varies colors)
1 cup crushed Easter candy Mini eggs (your choice)
5-6 pieces of white chocolate
candy sprinkles
Pop some popcorn and put into 3 separate bowls and let it cool.
Get baking sheet and place parchment paper on for all 3 popcorn mixes.
Next in small saucepan melt 1 tsp of butter.
When melted add 5-6 peeps (one color first) when Peeps are melted pour into bowl 1 and mix quickly but gently. Place that mixture once mixed onto baking sheet with parchment paper and spread out to cool.
Next rinse out saucepan and try another color, repeat for bowl 2.
Bowl 3 we will melt the white chocolate, and add sprinkles as much as you desire.
Then add melted Peeps into remaining popcorn and gently mix together.
Spread onto the baking sheet. Let it all cool them mix it all up. Add some Cadbury mini eggs and enjoy!
Sounds yummy doesn't it? Who's gonna try this?? You don't have to add the marshmallow Peeps if you don't want to, just adds a nice color for Easter.
